Memorial Day
In the Speech Room, some students learn how to pronounce our sounds better. Sometimes we look at pictures to help us with our words. Other times, we use a mirror to help us see how our mouths move when we talk. We even have a monkey that repeats back what we say, so we can hear if we speak correctly. Other students work on language skills. We learn about opposites, words that are in different categories and words that mean the same thing. Sometimes we learn when to pause when we speak. We also learn a lot of new vocabulary and grammar rules. We have fun while we learn!!! - Barbara Zachs, Speech Therapist

Fourth graders showcased what they've learned in math this year by creating a poster. The posters included concepts such as multiplication, multi-digit addition and subtraction, long division, and fractions. They invited their families in to share their learning. These fourth graders have learned so much! - Cristin Wojtas, 4th Grade Teacher

Today, May 14th, we would like to introduce our Superintendent for the Day, Mr. Sam Bavaro. Sam is a third grade student at Wells Road Intermediate School. He saw the opportunity to be Superintendent for the day at the recent Gran-bee auction event and thought it would be a great fit for him. Sam liked the idea of being a Superintendent as he enjoys responsibility and leadership. One day he hopes to be an author. A big Granby Public Schools welcome to Sam!

A huge shoutout to some of our room 17 friends who helped Mrs. Proto present to the Board of Education last week. They shared about their classroom charter, and how important it is to their day-to-day functioning. The whole class helped by discussing ideas and topics that they thought were important for the BoE to hear about, and then 5 student presenters created their portion of our presentation, and shared both classroom and personal experiences with the members of the board and public who were in attendance. Special thanks to Ellie, Rachael, Alex, Owen and Kenny, and their families, for taking the time to work on this and come to the meeting. It was a raging success!
