Fifth graders have been learning about the Law of Conservation of Matter. Students watched videos of meteors streaking across the sky and created a scientific model to predict why. Then they watched a series of demonstrations about matter (including Elephant Toothpaste!) and recorded their observations in their science notebooks. Ultimately, they found out that you cannot create nor destroy matter; it can only be changed into a new form. Using this knowledge, they went back and revised their model of a meteor. (by Mr. Janski)
